MISHA FRID

Born in Moscow, at the age of six Misha began his artistic studies at the prestigious art school for gifted young artists. He graduated with honors from Moscow State Art College and The University of Fine Arts in the capital. He also studied Film Directing at the University of Cinematography in Moscow. He was widely acclaimed and his artwork was placed in prestigious museums, but he felt "muzzled" by restrictions against free artistic expression. In 1972, he emigrated from Russia to North America with his wife Galina and their young sons. The art he created in the Soviet Union was declared a National Treasure, and by law could not be removed from the country. His talent and golden hands enabled him to start his career again, and face the challenges and difficulties of being an immigrant in a new country. Freedom brought forth beauty. A classical romantic style emerged when the background of Russian school and culture were combined with New World Liberty.

Because there is so much stress around us, Frid opts for fantasy and dreams. Sculpting in bronze, he fashions beautiful, graceful humans. In addition to balance and harmony, there is also an original concept and philosophy. He explores the hypnotic power of music.

Awards For The Best

Over the last ten years, Misha Frid has designed various awards for winners, to recognize excellence in their specific fields. His awards were and will be in the hands of the best victors. The creation of an original, unique prize is a process, similar to the development of a special logo for an organization. Many people have been lucky enough to hold an exclusive Misha Frid Award in numerous cities and countries around the world, which they will treasure forever. Perhaps the most honorable winner was the legendary actor of American cinema Kirk Douglas, who starred in the classical movie “Spartacus.” Kirk was 94 years old in 2011 when he received the Freedom of Expression Award at the JF Festival San Francisco, California.

“Jewish Film Festival Award was created as a symbol of the never extinguished flame of Jewish braveness and creativity.
Film is a window to the human soul.”

Misha Frid was also an official artist for the 100th anniversary of the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He created three designs, “Stadium Jumper,” “Equestrian,” and “Gymnast,” to commemorate the Olympic games, which are in the hands of many collectors. Other awards Frid has created were the Prize for the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, California, the Award for the Saint-Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, the Award for Marines Memorial Club in San Francisco, California, the Award for the Bayview School of Ballet in Toronto, Canada, and the Award for Leatherneck Steakhouse in San Francisco.
